Managing Director of Conergy Australia, Rodger Meads, has applauded the Federal Parliament’s passing of the RET Legislation. Conergy have played a crucial role in publicly advocating decoupling the RET Bill from the ETS Bill and highlighting the substantial impacts of delays in implementing this key policy.
“This move has created job opportunities and should be applauded by all Australians who care about Australia’s clean energy future,” Mr Meads said.
The Legislation was finally passed without a formal vote, after the Government and Opposition negotiated on key elements to secure its passage through the Senate. The support and key role of the Australian Greens in the debate was also recognised by Conergy and many others in the renewable energy industry.
“The livelihood of thousands of Australians and the sustainability of many Australian businesses has been secured thanks to the RET Bill being legislated.
Being a key player in the Australian renewable energy market who manufactures and supplies high efficiency solar hot water, solar power and small wind power solutions, it was critical for Conergy’s business to gain the security of the RET Legislation before employment and office expansion plans could be confirmed.
“We are looking forward to reactivating our expansion plans across Australia and creating many more jobs on the back of this Legislation’s passage.
“Having all sides of politics finally agree about this important piece of Legislation is welcomed by Conergy and hundreds of our industry counterparts.
“Now we can all get on with the job of providing Australian households with the renewable energy solutions they had put on hold while awaiting promised incentives. Our industry can start working again.
“We hope that all sides of politics have seen from this debate that playing politics won’t help deliver good policy and what the Australian people and industry want is them to work together to move us towards a clean, renewable future,” Mr Meads said. |
